Starting Strong: A peak into Third Year Training

After a brief hiatus, CIGYM is back in the public eye! We’ve made changes and shifted gears as the past year of missions came to a close. Seventeen 3rd year CIG missionaries went through a ‘witnessing boot camp’ consisting of intense physical and spiritual training over the span of one week. It all lead up to a one day Divine Principle seminar with support from CARP DMV. In the sweltering August heat of Adelphi, MD, the missionaries were given the task to leave an impact on students on the campus of University of Maryland, College Park. They were tested, tried, and trained through a number of different activities along the way. Lights would be left on late into the night as they offered spiritual devotion in hope of supporting their guests in their journey to understand God and the Unification Principle more deeply.

The seminar took place on Friday, August 10th, and with eager hearts the CIG missionaries took on great responsibilities to make it a success. The setting was lively — laughter-filled engagements, powerful presentations and delicious food painted the scene with bright colors and emotions. Ben Buergi and Sunhwa Schlaepfer greeted everyone with bright eyes as MCs, Sean Warden, Akifumi Takami and Toshio Barber all shared a portion of the Divine Principle in separate presentations and Mika Uokawa and Semoon Nakama led and directed the program. That’s not including the rest of the missionaries who embraced the guests with open arms and hearts. Evidently, the bond of heart our founders, Father and Mother Moon, sought to share was present from start to end. Semoon Nakama summed up his experience with one simple word: Powerful.
